The Lodge at Blue Sky, Utah

When you’re stressed out, cooped up, and fed up with Covid-19, what do you do?  Escape to The Lodge at Blue Sky in the Wasatch mountains of Utah, less than an hour from Salt Lake City.

We recently spent a blissful week at the lodge, in a stand-alone Creek House, which proved to be the perfect antidote to our usual Groundhog Day existence in Chicago.

Set on 3500 acres, with 44 rooms, Blue Sky is naturally socially distant.  They’ve done a superb job with their Covid protocols – extra cleaning in place, only 2 people allowed in the gym at once, staff wear masks and everyone must do the same inside the main lodge, until you sit down in the bar or the restaurant.

We saw couples, families with young kids, multi-generational families, single people, and small groups of friends.  It was fun to see how everyone spends their time – many chose Rosé by the pool.  Some never left their beautiful rooms, choosing to dine on their terrace by the fire pit.  (Whether they found it safe or romantic, we couldn’t say, but those terraces are magical.)

The sporty ones took to the 35 miles of hiking trails.  Others learned to shoot at the sporting club or went for private yoga sessions at “The Yurt”. The spa is gorgeous and guests aren’t required to wear masks during treatments.  Fly fishing is great here – many families with adult children partook.  Blue Sky’s stables are beautiful, and the riding guides are local cowboys and girls.  High West Whiskey Distillery is just next door, and we sipped Old Fashioneds on their mountain-views terrace at their Thursday Night “Supper Club”.  Our watercolor class instructor was also an Olympic ski-jumper – we loved her stories, and she brought out our inner Picassos!  Who knew we had it in us?

Our jaws dropped as we saw a large moose wander through the resort and drink from the pool’s overflow …we were on an American safari!

Blue Sky transformed us from Zoom trolls to seeing life through fresh eyes in just days.  We could have remained home, waiting for life to become more “normal” again, under the cloud of these last few months.  We’re grateful we left inertia behind and made the short trip to Utah – Blue Sky helped us feel human and connected again, which is priceless right now.

Cerulean can help you feel the same, and then some.  We’ll make sure you 1) travel safely to Salt Lake City, 2) have private transport to the lodge, 3) get you a great room and 4) help create a program at Blue Sky that’s as chill or as active as you like.   Our clients also receive complimentary breakfast, potential room upgrades and a $100 resort credit.
